Access control list - The access control list (ACL) is a concept in computer security used to enforce privilege separation. It is a means of determining the appropriate access rights to a given object depending on certain aspects of the process that is making the request, principally the process's user identity (in POSIX, effective UID).

Access control - In security, specifically physical security, the term access control refers to the practice of restricting entrance to a property, a building, or a room to authorized persons. Physical access control can be achieved by a human; a guard, bouncer, or receptionist, through mechanical means such as locks and keys, or through technological means such as a card access system.
Mandatory access control - Mandatory access control (MAC) is a technique to protect and contain computer processes, data, and system devices from misuse. This may extend or replace discretionary access control for file system permissions and the concepts of users and groups.
